Image
Philanthropist and businessman, the CEO and Founder of HOB Foundation, Honorable Hayford Osei-Bempah has expressed a fervent statement to the Government of Ghana and The Ministry of Education. The Businessman popularly known as Hayford Nomore Walls on Social Media, has started this conversation on his Facebook wall and he writes.... "The revelations of nomorewalls to Ghana as a country. Just recently, the SHS students got admitted to the senior secondary school. We bought provisions and school items for them and not less than GHS 4000. We bought Cutlass and iron and many things. If 1000 students bring 1000 cutlasses and 1000 irons, there won’t be any need for the rest but just 5 irons in a dormitory can serve 100 students. That iron and cutlass could have replaced a Ghana passport. A ten years passport must be added to their list where GHS 100 must be collected from the parents to the government and each SHS student gets a passport."   "A passport is better than a ...

The project is a 250,000KVA power plant to support the energy issues of the college. Due to prominent power outages that the locality of the college experiences from time to time, the SRC saw it as a need to embark on such a project.  On the occasion of the handover, the principal of the college, Dr. Peter Ofori Atakorah accepted the project on behalf of the college management who also made the realization of this project a fruitful one. The power plant he said, was one of the many projects the SRC executives brought before him, that was going to be beneficial to the college community at large and therefore, supported the student leadership on the project. THE HIDDEN TREASURE: BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERISM

Image
Hidden Treasure may refer to any valuable item which is covered up. In the Bible, Jesus Christ spoke in  parables about some of these hidden treasures. In this short article, the writer intends to talk about what voluntary work is about, why the youth should get involved in volunteerism, advantages and disadvantages of it. In short, volunteer as a noun refers to a person who offers services free of charge to people in need, community or organizations without pay. Volunteerism is the involvement of voluntary labour whilst volunteering is the act of offering a work or service for free. Voluntary work involves work that is done by the aid of volunteers. In the year 2014, I was offered Commonwealth Shared Scholarship to study in England, UK. During the application, I was shocked to find out that Voluntary Work was part of the scholarship requirements. I was asked to list all the voluntary work I'd done, with dates, organizations and specific work or activity. Then when I got the sch...

HEADACHE & ANXIETY: RE-OPENING OF SCHOOLS IN THE MIDST OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Image
(Article by Sir Charles Freeman) Countries, governments, parents, and other stakeholders in education are thinking about how to re-open schools globally so that children can go to school. Ghana's circumstances is not different. As COVID-19 has put human beings, ideas, resources, and almost all things at abnormal position; out of  try and error method, we can move from this abnormal situation to the normal if all ideas and suggestions are critically looked at regardless of where it is coming from.  In this article, I intend to draw attention to some challenges of school re-open and use leading questions which can compel us to think further to arrive at possible solutions. The fact that we are in dilemma and not in normal times does not mean country like Ghana should rush and take decisions or copy from other countries blindly without assessing its own perculiar situation, ability, capability, material and human resources, environment and culture. Do we have to re-open our scho...
